Elsie DuBray

Elsie DuBray (Oohenunpa Lakota, Nueta, and Hidatsa) is a member of the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe in South Dakota and was raised on a Buffalo ranch on the east end of the CRST reservation. She graduated from Stanford in 2023 with a B.S. in Human Biology with a concentration in the Holistic Health and Wellbeing of Indigenous Communities, a Minor in Native American Studies, and Interdisciplinary Honors. Her honors thesis and life’s research investigates the intergenerational knowledges and life experiences of her and her father’s involvement in Buffalo restoration and her understanding of Buffalo restoration as a radical reconceptualization of Lakota public health and futurisms. Her interests lie in the holistic health implications of Indigenous food sovereignty and have manifested in her involvement in GATHER film (2020) and her family’s nonprofit, Buffalo First. Elsie is currently a master’s student in Community Health and Prevention Research program at Stanford School of Medicine.
